Miksang

The five photographs above use elements such as; rule of thirds, simplicity, selective focus and asymmetrical balance. They were taken throughout the day when visiting the art room and downtown Oakville, waiting for the bus and hanging out at home. These were chosen because I feel they are a brief photographic time-line of my day.
Each of these places I visit either everyday or on an occasional basis. But not everyday I notice things such as the silhouette of the crossing guard or the way the the light shines through the glass vase. These images personally relate to me because they are a part of my everyday life.
These photographs are very honest and were taken because at that moment, the lighting, motion or scene caught my eye. They capture my "truth of pure perception" and this is why they were chosen.
I am a very observant person so completing the Miksang project was enjoyable for me. I enjoy capturing a simple moment and sharing with others. It amazes me how such an everyday thing to one person can be a beautiful photo to others. To be mindful is key when doing a Miksang project because being aware of the 'normal' people and objects we are used to seeing can turn into a great photo.
